En muchos países, los aspirantes a un puesto de trabajo usan una carta de presentación para complementar el currículum vitae que entregan en una empresa. Con un documento como ese se pretende destacar las cualidades y habilidades propias para ser el mejor candidato posible para el empleo en cuestión.

En EEUU y otros lugares se les denominan cover letter a las cartas de presentación. No es más que una carta personalizada en la que expresa lo mejor de sí con el fin de generar motivos para que, quien la lea, se sienta complacido en contratar a su autor.

Las cover letter tienen una redacción no tan formal, pero debe contener cierta estructura para ser considerada una carta oficial. Además, debe plasmar de forma clara la intención de su autor que es simplemente darse a conocer como estuviera hablando en persona con el lector.

Como hispano que espera ser aceptado en un empleo remoto o presencial en alguna compañía de habla inglesa, entregar una cover letter es la mejor forma que tienes de demostrar tu dominio del inglés.
